3.0 Pre-Release Notes

   NCSA Mosaic for the Macintosh is in the process of development. This
   page contains a list of features for the 3.0 pre-release version of
   NCSA Mosaic for the Macintosh. The most recent version, 3.0 Beta 4,
   was released Saturday, September 14, 1996.
   
   We will keep a comprehensive Known Bugs page and a Bug Fixes page. In
   order to keep these pages as up to date as possible, we encourage you
   to report any problems that you find which are not related to those
   listed on the Known Bugs page. You may use the Mail Developers feature
   from the Balloon Help menu, or send mail to
   mosaic-m-help@ncsa.uiuc.edu.
   
   For a longer description of the changes for the 3.0 release of Mosaic
   for the Macintosh, as well as a demonstration of some of the new
   features, go to the 3.0 Features page.

     * Progressive Image Decoding and Displaying
     * Protocol handlers (Specify separate programs to run FTP, Telnet,
       News, etc.)

     * Software Support for:
          + Apple Open Transport
          + Kerberos and MD5 Security
          + Netscape and Spyglass APIs
          + Portable Network Graphics
          + Speech synthesis (requires speech software included with
            system 7.5 update 2)
     * HTML Support for:
          + Client side image maps
          + Frames
          + Image borders
          + Image captions
          + Image sizes
          + Link tag
          + Table borders
          + Table captions
          + Table centering
